Mon Repos man arrested after found with cocaine, ganja
A 27-year-old labourer of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, was arrested Wednesday night after he was found with cocaine and ganja in his possession.
The man, who is currently at the Beterverwagting Police Station, is accused of having on his person over 10 grams of cocaine and some 31 grams of marijuana.
The illicit substances were reportedly concealed in ziploc bags.
According to a police statement, at about 20:00 hours, a party of police from Regional Division 4C were on patrol in the vicinity of Third Street, Mon Repos when they observed the man acting in a suspicious manner.
A search on his person revealed one transparent Ziploc bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis; and one white rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.
He was arrested and escorted to the police station where the illicit substances were weighed.
He remains in custody pending charges.
