116 new COVID-19 cases from more than 1,000 tests

Guyana on Friday recorded a total of 116 new COVID-19 cases from 1,118 tests, pushing the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 14,073.

Region Four recorded the majority of the new cases with 38, followed by Region Six with 20 new cases. Regions Nine and Ten recorded nine new cases each while Region Seven recorded 10 new cases. Region Five recorded 11 new cases and Region Eight recorded four new cases.

The other Regions that recorded new cases are Regions Three with seven new cases; Region Two with five new cases and Region One with three new cases.

To date, 11,928 persons have recovered from the dreaded disease. Guyana’s total number of deaths is now at 314 since the pandemic hit these shores in March 2020 while the death toll for May now stands at 14.

There are 1,716 patients in home isolation, 101 patients are in institutional isolation, 14 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
