May’s COVID-19 death toll moves to 12

Two more persons who tested positive for COVID-19 died on Thursday, taking the country’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 312.

The latest fatalities are women, one 52-years-old and the other 65-years-old from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica). They both died while receiving care at a medical facility on May 6.

The death toll for May thus far is 12.

There have now been over 100 deaths recorded over the past two months.

Between March 11, 2020, to March 4, 2021, Guyana recorded exactly 200 deaths.

In April alone, the deadliest month of the pandemic so far, 65 individuals who were infected, lost their lives.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.17), which are in effect until May 31, 2021.
