Two more persons who tested positive for COVID-19 died on Thursday, taking the country’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 314.

In addition to two deaths reported earlier, this means that a total of four persons died from COVID on Thursday.

The latest fatalities are two females, a 69-year-old from Region 3 (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and a 29-year-old from Region 7 (Cuyuni-Mazaruni). They both died while receiving care at a medical facility on May 6.

The death toll for May thus far is 14.

Between March 11, 2020, to March 4, 2021, Guyana recorded exactly 200 deaths.

In April alone, the deadliest month of the pandemic so far, 65 individuals who were infected, lost their lives.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.17), which are in effect until May 31, 2021.
