Bandits beat, rob Craig residents

Police are on the hunt for four men, who kicked down the front door of two Craig, East Bank Demerara, residents and robbed them of cash and jewellery.

Police Headquarters, in a statement, noted that Zahir Narine and Bibi Khan of Second Street, Craig, were sleeping when they heard a loud knocking on the front door at around 01:30hrs on Friday.

As they ventured into the living room, the door was kicked open and four masked men, armed with knives and cutlasses, rushed in. They beat Narine, who received injuries to his forehead in the process.

They were robbed of $207,000 in cash, a black PLUM cellphone valued at $15,000; a five-penny weight gold chain valued at $50,000 and one gold coloured Samsung cellphone valued at $48,000.

The bandits escaped on foot through the backyard of the victims’ residence.
