Man, 55, found dead on beach at Leguan
A 55-year-old East Coast Demerara man was Sunday found dead on a beach on the island of Leguan after he left a family gathering to go swimming and fishing, Police reported.
Dead is Sihanouk Rampersaud of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara.
Police said Rampersaud was visiting relatives at Success, Leguan on Sunday. After drinking alcohol earlier in the day, Rampersaud left his relatives’ home at about 16:15 hrs to go fishing and swimming at Success Beach.
When he didn’t return after about two hours, relatives went looking for him. They first found his blue pants on the seawall, and as they looked further, they found Rampersaud floating face down.
He was rushed to the Leguan Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post mortem examination is expected to be conducted this week.
