Armed with ice picks, bandits rob taxi driver of car in Pradoville
Police are on the hunt for three men who robbed a 38-year-old taxi driver of his Allion motorcar, valued at $1.5 million, on Monday night in Pradoville, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the victim was also robbed of a Samsung Pro cellphone valued at $27,000; $41,000 in cash; his car documents and driver licence.
The incident occurred at around 21:10hrs. Investigations have so far found that the victim was plying his trade and picked up the three suspects on Mandela Avenue; they requested to be taken to Ogle, ECD.
As the taxi driver turned onto the Ogle Access Road, the suspects requested to go into Pradoville. Upon reaching a dead-end in Pradoville, two of the suspects placed ice picks to the victim’s body and demanded he hands over his valuables.
The other suspect then searched the victim and relieved him of his phone and cash. The perpetrators then instructed the victim to exit the motorcar, after which, they escaped.
