Mommy’s Corner brings Mother’s Day cheer to single parents

Over 100 single parents- both mothers and fathers- were on Mother’s Day given hampers by Mommy’s Corner, a support group headed by entrepreneur Madonna Ghanie.

Ghanie, a single parent mother of two, said the idea was conceptualised solely to give back to single parents.

“We just thought it would be a great idea. Due to the pandemic a lot of persons are out of jobs and being a single parent, it’s really, really hard,” Ghanie said.

“I’m a single parent myself and I know the struggles and the difficulties we have to face daily, so I decided we should do Mother’s Day hampers for those single parents.”

Ghanie and her team received support to executive the initiative from Team Mohamed’s, BM Soat Auto Sales, Trans Pacific Motor Spares, Bad Monkey, Miss Omar and Aditya Persaud.

“Mommy’s Corner is a support system for mothers of all age and ethnicity. We do social activities for the kids once per month and a social activity for mothers once per month. We also have charitable events where we give back to our communities with the help of everyone in Guyana and around the world; charitable events are not only for mothers but anyone that seeks assistance,” Ghanie pointed out.

Mommy’s Corner was founded in 2019 by Ghanie.
