Woman, 63; man, 66, die from COVID-19

Guyana has recorded two more COVID-19 deaths, taking the country’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 329.

The latest fatalities are a 63-year-old female from Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) and a 66-year-old male from Region 1 (Barima-Waini).

They both died while receiving care at a medical facility on Monday, May 10, 2021. This takes May’s death toll to 30, while the death toll in April, which has been Guyana’s deadliest month in the pandemic thus far, is 66.

From March 4, 2021, to now, Guyana has seen a surge in both the number of additional people infected daily and the number of lives lost due to COVID-19. In just two months since March 4, 129 lives have been lost.
