Another COVID-19 death and 186 new cases

Guyana on Thursday recorded 186 new COVID-19 infections from 1,364 tests, taking the country’s overall total confirmed cases to 14, 845.

The majority of the new cases were recorded in Region Four with 86 new infections; Region Three came in with 28 new cases while Regions Six and Seven recorded 25 and 21 new cases, respectively.

Region Nine recorded 16 new cases while Regions Five and Ten recorded seven and three new cases, respectively. The other regions recorded no new cases.

Meanwhile, another person who tested positive for COVID-19 has died taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 333.

The latest fatality is a 64-year-old male from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica) who died while receiving care at a medical facility on May 12. Another male also died the same day, as reported earlier by the News Room.

The latest death also means that 34 persons have died for this month thus far. Also, 12,693 persons have recovered from the dreaded disease.

There are 1,696 patients in home isolation, 111 patients are in institutional isolation and 12 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
