With an investment of $68 million, Massy Stores Guyana opened the doors to its new location: Massy Stores Mini at Montrose, East Coast Demerara (ECD) offering employment to 13 Guyanese.

In a convenient store style, the Massy mini supermarket occupies less space than the other locations at Turkeyen, ECD and Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD), but will still offer a curated assortment of essential items.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Massy Group Executive, Christian Bobb Semple, told the gathering that the idea behind the new location was to cater to shoppers who have a hectic lifestyle and those looking to shop with a smaller basket.

“When we examine our lifestyles, we see it is becoming fast-paced, and hectic and convenience is now more than ever, of great importance to shoppers.

“We appreciate that while we have the largest stores in Providence and Turkeyen, which more than adequately cater to shoppers who stock up for households each month, but there are also times when shoppers just need to regularly replenish the basic items.”

He said the company will continue to provide Guyanese with different shopping options, with a focus placed on an enhanced shopping experience.

“While we are offering a new format in a smaller retail space, it is important to note that the values which we uphold will not change. We will continue to maintain our standards of quality, delivery of exceptional service and an assortment which can only be found at Massy Stores,” he added.

With a total of 48 locations across Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados and Guyana, Massy’s General Manager, Robin Singh, relayed that the chain sets the precedent for the standards of quality, range, cleanliness, safety, customer service, supplier relationships and people development.

Further, he added that the chain is also credited with having transformed the retail supermarket space in all territories it operates even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
