On Friday afternoon, a 31-year-old man, Vishal Ramdiaol was beaten and stabbed by a 25-year-old man in a drunken state, after he went to purchase items in Westminster, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
According to police reports, Ramdiaol went to purchase items at around 17:30 hrs on Friday when the suspect, who was under the influence of alcohol, came out of his yard with a long knife in his hand and started an argument.
The News Room understands that the victim cautioned the suspect and told him to desist from his actions but the suspect became annoyed and dealt the victim a slap to his face before stabbing him twice to his left side ribs.
Police reported that the victim was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was treated by a doctor on duty and subsequently, admitted as a patient to undergo surgery. His condition is, reportedly, stable.
Meanwhile, the suspect was apprehended and is assisting with police investigations.
