A 19-year-old labourer on Tuesday confessed to fatally stabbing 17-year-old Clive Osborne during a fight at a shop.  The incident occurred on June 2, 2019 at Supenaam on the Essequibo Coast.

Richard Harrychand, formerly of Supenaam, appeared before Justice Navindra Singh at the Suddie High Court for murder but opted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.

The State is being represented by prosecutor Tiffani Lyken. Sentencing was deferred until June 2, when a probation report will be presented in court.

According to reports, on the day in question Osborne was socialising with his friends at a shop when he was confronted by Harrychand.  Harrychand took out a knife from his waist and stabbed Osborne several times to his abdomen, chest and forehead. The injured man then ran out of the shop and fell down.

He was taken to the hospital by his cousin but was pronounced dead on arrival.

When arrested, Harrychand handed over the murder weapon to the police. He also told investigators that Osborne had an old grievance with his younger brother.
