Better Hope residents robbed by lone gunman in tinted Axio car

Police are on the hunt for a lone gunman who held four residents of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara at gunpoint on Saturday and robbed them of a number of valuables before he escaped in a white tinted Axio motorcar.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the four victims were inside their yard in Better Hope, when the bandit entered and ordered them to “freeze” while pointing a handgun in their direction.

The victims include a 21-year-old female; a 23-year-old housewife; a 44-year-old fisherman and a 45-year-old businesswoman.

The bandit carted off with a A21s Samsung cell phone valued at $70,000; a Samsung A10 cell phone valued at $50,000; a10 pennyweight gold chain valued at $100,000; three gold rings valued at $60,000; an Alcatel cell phone valued at $6,000; $80,000 in cash; a diamond ring valued at $175,000 and a gold band valued at $300,000.

Police reported that one of the victims, who was seated at the time, got up from his chair and was lashed to the left side face with the handgun by the perpetrator, who then pointed the gun to the businesswoman’s head and demanded money.

The perpetrator then ran out of the yard with the articles and cash, making good his escape in a white Axio motorcar, tinted black (registration number unknown), which was parked waiting on him.
