Overseas-based Guyanese Raynauth Jeffrey won the Senior category of the Guyana Cycling Federation’s National Time Trial in Linden on Saturday (May 22), while young Alex Leung, Suzanne Hamilton and Stephen Fernandes emerged the other category champions.
Team Foundation’s rider Jeffrey, currently based in the USA, completed the 12-mile course in 28 minutes, 55.48 seconds (28:55.48s), followed by Curtis Dey (30:07.88s) and Christopher Griffith (32:16.28s).
We Stand United 13-year-old cyclist Leung was the top Junior/Juvenile competitor, finishing the ride in 17:38.00s. Sherwin Sampson (17:49.78s) and Aaron Newton (17:54.80s) ended second and third respectively.
In the 10-mile Female race, Hamilton of Linden’s Bauxite Flyers Cycle Club was fastest with a time of 19:59.20s, followed by Trevessa Spencer (22:18.31s), Shenika Texiera (24:34.37s), Alecia Crandon (25:16.06s) and Selena Stephens (29:07.18s) in that order.
The Masters also competed for 12 miles with Team Evolution’s Fernandes recording the best time of 31:37.84s. He was followed by Paul Chooweenam (32:23.77s) and Jaikarran Sukhai (32:27.91s).
On Sunday (May 23), the senior riders will clash in the 100-mile Senior Road Race from Georgetown to Linden and back to the origin for the finish.
