Corentyne businessman tied up by masked men with guns; robbed cash, jewelry
A 57-year-old businessman and 23-year-old female, both of Friendship, Corentyne, Berbice, were on Sunday held at gunpoint and robbed by three masked men.
Police said the two were robbed of $550,000 cash, one diamond ring valued at US$3000 and one iPhone valued at US$1000
According to a statement from police headquarters, at about 20:00 hours the man and the woman were sitting in their hammocks when three men armed with handguns each, wearing black clothing and fully masked held them at gunpoint and demanded cash and all their valuables.
“They took them to the upper flat of the building and tied them up and dealt the businessman a cuff to his left eyes causing injuries,” the police statement noted.
The three gunmen relieved the victims of the cash and valuables and made good their escape.
Investigations are ongoing.
