The Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA) on Monday donated $1.5M to the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) to be used in assisting communities affected by floods.

The donation by the GGDMA is in response to a request made by the CDC for assistance to build shelters, and to bring relief to several communities across the country which were impacted by the recent heavy rainfall.

“The GGDMA, will continue to monitor several areas in mining districts which are among some of the areas affected and will also offer support to miners and other communities,” the GGDMA stated.
