Jahmar Hamilton XI defeated Jermaine Blackwood XI by three wickets in the West Indies ‘Best v Best’ Four-Day game in St. Lucia on Thursday.
Chasing 311 for victory, Hamilton XI resumed on 218-4 and achieved the win with seven wickets down on the final day at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
The victory was set up by a splendid 95 by opener Kieran Powell on day three; he received solid support from Roston Chase (45*), Shamarh Brooks (39), Shayne Moseley (36) and Raymon Reifer (32).
Rahkeem Cornwall took 3-39.
Final scores in the match: Blackwood XI 264 and 224; Hamilton XI 178 and 313-7.
The game was the lone bit of competitive match preparation for West Indies, who face South Africa in the first of two Test matches, starting June 10 in St. Lucia. The West Indies squad for that series will be named in the coming days.
