Police headquarters on Friday said it is beefing up security around gold trading businesses given recent robberies.
“There have been two recent incidents where persons conducting business at establishments dealing with the purchase of gold and other precious metals were attacked (and robbed) by criminal elements after having completed their transactions,” police reported.
“In light of this and with the view to interdicting the suspects, the Guyana Police Force has increased its visibility around such businesses,” Police headquarters stated.
The Police Force is urging citizens to be extra vigilant and security conscious when involved in such business dealings.
