Two additional COVID deaths, 158 new cases

The Ministry of Health, on Saturday, confirmed two additional COVID-19 deaths, taking Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll since March 11, 2020, to 405.

The two new fatalities are a 76-year-old female and a 41-year-old-man both from Region Two Pomeroon- Supenaam. They died on Friday June 4, 2021, while receiving care at a medical facility.

The death toll for June now stands at seven.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health also reported that 158 additional people have been infected with the virus. These new cases were recorded from 1,278 tests. The total number of cases has risen to 17,617.

These new cases were recorded in Region One (six cases), Region Two (two cases), Region Three (18 cases), Region Four (65 cases), Region Five (three cases), Region Six (16 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Eight (four cases), Region Nine (seven cases), and Region 10 (36 cases).

Additionally, of the almost 2000 active cases, 18 of these cases are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 106 people are in institutional isolation, 1,738 people are in home isolation and four people are in institutional quarantine.
