Four additional COVID deaths, 48 new cases

The Ministry of Health, on Sunday, confirmed four additional COVID-19 deaths, taking Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll since March 11, 2020, to 409.

The four fatalities are: 45-year-old female from Region Four who died on June 02; a 68-year-old male from Region Two who died on June 04; a 51-year-old female from Region Six who died on June 03 and an 82-year-old female from Region Seven who died on June 04. They all died while receiving care at a medical facility.

The death toll for June now stands at 11.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health also reported that 48 additional people have been infected with the virus. These new cases were recorded from 841 tests. The total number of cases has risen to 17,665.

These new cases were recorded in Region Three (four cases), Region Four (30 cases), Region Five (one case), Region Six (two cases), Region Nine (eight cases), and Region 10 (three cases).

Additionally, of the almost 2000 active cases, 20 of these cases are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 103 people are in institutional isolation, 1,759 people are in home isolation and four people are in institutional quarantine.

In total, there have been 15,374 recoveries.
