Police have arrested two males for reportedly breaking into the A&S Store at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice and stealing several cell phones during the course of Saturday night.
According to a statement from Police Headquarters, the businesswoman said she secured the store at around 18:00 hrs on Saturday and went home.
Upon her return at around 8:00 hrs Sunday, she observed the western door ajar and the glass case which contained several cell phones, were missing.
She immediately raised an alarm after which the matter was reported to the police.
As part of the police investigations, a cordon and search operation was carried out at the house of a suspect in Williamsburg Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
He was questioned and later told the police where he hid several cell phones he reportedly stole from the store.
Some 23 cellphones were recovered by the police, all of which have been lodged as evidence.
Further investigations led to the arrest of another male, police said.
All the smartphones were recovered with the assistance of the first suspect and have been identified by the business owner.
Both suspects remain in custody pending charges.
