Another ‘COVID’ death; 134 new cases, 20 in ICU

Guyana on Wednesday recorded another COVID-19 death, taking the total number of people who have died from the disease since March 2020 to 417.

The latest fatality is one 79-year-old male from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), who died while receiving care at a medical facility on June 8. The latest fatality takes the total number of deaths for June thus far is 19.

Meanwhile, there have been 134 new cases, taking the total number of cases since March, last year, to 17,939.

These new cases are drawn from: Region One (two cases), Region Two (three cases), Region Three (nine cases), Region Four (49 cases), Region Five (nine cases), Region Six (37 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Nine (16 cases) and Region 10 (eight cases).

Additionally, there are also 20 people are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 99 people are in institutional isolation, 1,566 are in home isolation and four are in institutional quarantine.
