The Ministry of Health has reported that another two people have died from the COVID-19 disease, while receiving care at medical facilities.
The latest fatalities are a 58-year-old man and a 42-year-old man, both from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica).
With these two deaths, the total number of deaths recorded since March 11, 2020, has increased to 419, while 21 deaths have already been recorded in the month of June.
Meanwhile, another 149 people tested positive for the disease after 1,035 tests were conducted. This means that Guyana has a total of 18,088 infections since March, last year.
These new cases were recorded in: Region One (one case), Region Three (26 cases), Region Four (44 cases), Region Five (eight cases), Region Six (26 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Nine (37 cases) and Region 10 (six cases).
Importantly, an additional 205 people recovered after they were infected with the disease. Now, a total of 16,042 people have recovered after being infected with the disease.
There are also (1,628) active cases; 20 people are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 101 are in institutional isolation, 1,506 are in home isolation and one person is in institutional quarantine.
