West Indies batsman Nkrumah Bonner has been diagnosed with a concussion and will play no further part in the first Test against South Africa.
This was confirmed by Cricket West Indies on Thursday afternoon. Bonner will be replaced by left-handed batsman Kieran Powell, who was named in West Indies 13-man squad for this game.
The right-handed Bonner was struck on the helmet the first ball he faced from fast bowler Anrich Nortje. The incident required a mandatory concussion test and a change of helmet.
The Jamaican was subsequently cleared to resume batting, and was eventually dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 10.
West Indies were dismissed for 97 with Lungi Ngidi taking 5-19 and Nortje 4-35.
