An elderly woman, who police identified as 83-year-old Maud Agatha of Smythfield, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was on Thursday found dead, lying face down in her house.
Police said the discovery was made around 17:00hrs.
The woman was reportedly last seen alive on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
On Thursday, a neighbour called the police complaining of a foul smell emanating from the residence. Upon arrival, ranks made the discovery; due to the advanced stage of decomposition, police could not say whether there were marks of violence on the body.
The body is at the Bailey’s Funeral Home awaiting post mortem examination.
