    Three more ‘COVID’ deaths, 108 new cases

    The Ministry of Health on Friday reported that three more persons have died from the COVID-19 disease while receiving care at medical facilities.

    The latest fatalities are as follows:

    • A 65-year-old woman from Region Five, Mahaica-Berbice who died on June 9;
    • A 72-year-old man from Region Six, East Berbice-Corentyne who died on June 10;
    • A 97-year-old woman from Region Four, Demerara-Mahaica who died June 8

    With these three deaths, the total number of deaths recorded since March 11, 2020, has increased to 422, while 24 deaths have already been recorded in the month of June.

    Meanwhile, another 108 people tested positive for the disease after 1,328 tests were conducted. This means that Guyana has a total of 18,196 infections since March, last year.

    These new cases were recorded in: Region Two (one case), Region Three (three cases), Region Four (24 cases), Region Five (six cases), Region Six (41 cases), Region Nine (27 cases) and Region 10 (six cases).

    Now, a total of 16,110 people have recovered after being infected with the disease.

    There are also 21 people are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 102 are in institutional isolation, 1,541 are in home isolation and three persons are in institutional quarantine.
