On May 20, 2021, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., approved the appointments of six members to the Board of the National Sports Commission (NSC) for the next two years.
The Commission comprises Kashif Muhammad (Chairman), Bissoondyal Singh, Cristy Campbell, Dellon Davidson, Phillip Fernandes and Cheteram Ramdial.
Singh is the current President of the Guyana Cricket Board; Campbell, President of the Tennis Association; Fernandes, President of Guyana Hockey Board; Ramdial is a Chartered Accountant; and Davidson is a Private Consultant.
On May 30, the Commission, in consultation with the Minister, appointed President of the Guyana Boxing Association, Steve Ninvalle, the new Director of Sport.
As we continue to share the individual profiles of the six Commissioners, we take a look at the professional accomplishments of Bissoondyal Singh, who came through the ranks as a player and is now in the limelight as an administrator.

Bissoondyal Singh is the current President of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) after being elected on March 29, 2021.
Singh played the sport in the late 1980s and toured Suriname with the Demerara Youth team in 1987.
He also played at the First Division level for the Georgetown Cricket Club from 1986 to 1988 when there were seven senior national players in the team.
He transitioned to life in administration in 2008 when he became President of the East Coast Cricket Board then the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) President in 2009, and further served as GCB Vice-President and Chairman of the National Development Committee from 2009 to 2011.
Singh also served as Deputy Operations Manager for the World T20 hosted by in the Caribbean in 2010.
In 2012, he was part of the consultative committee, headed by Sir Clive Lloyd, for the preparation of the Guyana Cricket Administration Act, which was passed in 2014.
Among the meetings in the consultation process were those with CARICOM.
He was re-elected DCB President in 2021.
The father of three started his own business, Bissan’s Trading, located on King Street, in 1993.
