The driver behind the wheel of the car involved in the deadly West Coast Berbice accident on Monday has been identified as 23-year-old taxi driver Carlos Edwards of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam.
The News Room understands that Edwards reportedly lost control of his car during the early morning downpour and crashed into a lamp post and the fence of the GECOM office at Fort Wellington.
One of the other persons who was killed has been identified as Parmanand Hookumchand.
The News Room was also informed that Edward’s had his son and the mother of his child in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
They have since been transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Investigations are ongoing.
