Guyana on Wednesday recorded another COVID-19 fatality taking the total number of deaths recorded since the pandemic began in March 2020 to 438; a total of 40 deaths have thus been recorded this month alone.
The latest fatality is a 54-year-old woman from Region 1 (Barima-Waini) who died while receiving care at a medical facility on June 15.
Meanwhile, another 128 people were tested positive, taking the total number of cases recorded since last March to 18,658. These new infections were recorded from 1,421 tests.
The 128 infections were drawn from: Region One (two cases), Region Two (five cases), Region Three (eight cases), Region Four (43 cases), Region Six (10 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Nine (35 cases) and Region 10 (24 cases).
There are also 21 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 113 are in institutional isolation and 1,509 are in home isolation.
