Armed bandits hijack minibus after driver stopped to “cool down’ bus

A man who pulled over on the dark Linden Soesdyke Highway to “cool down” his overheating bus was relieved of the vehicle and $20,000 cash by two armed men on Sunday evening.

According to police reports, the victim pulled over in the vicinity of Swan Village, Linden Soesdyke Highway at around 21:00hrs.

Five minutes later, he saw a dark-coloured car pull up behind his bus and two men exited. The suspects reportedly ran up to the bus and one of the men pulled out a black handgun from his waist and held the driver at gunpoint.

He was pulled out of the bus, searched and relieved of $20,000 cash. The men then drove away with the bus – a Toyota Pitbull bus registration number BWW 1914, valued $2,980,000.

A report was later made at the Kuru Kururu Police Outpost.

Investigations are ongoing.
