Goedverwagting woman found dead with multiple stab wounds, husband arrested

Police have arrested a 59-year-old resident of Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara, in connection with the murder of his wife, Saskia Perreira, whose body was discovered with multiple stab wounds and bruises on Monday morning.

Police Headquarters reported that the murder occurred between 20:00hrs on Sunday and 08:20hrs on Monday at the couple’s Goedverwagting house.

Police said that the couple had a fight before the woman was found dead. Detectives also retrieved a knife with suspected blood stains from the scene and have taken the victim’s husband into custody.

The suspect also appears to have sustained injuries, which he claimed were inflicted by the victim. He was seen and examined by a doctor.

The victim’s body is at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a port-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
