The Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported three more COVID-19 deaths taking the toll since March 2020 to 452, while the death toll for the month of June has risen to 54.
The latest fatalities, as reported by the Health Ministry, are: a 74-year-old female from Region 10 (Upper Demerara – Berbice), a 32-year-old woman from Region Nine (Upper Takutu – Upper Essequibo) and a 48-year-old male of Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica). They all died on June 20.
The patients were admitted with COVID-19 like symptoms but died while receiving care at medical institutions. Samples were taken at the time of their admission later returned positive tests.
Additionally, another 90 people were infected with the novel coronavirus, taking the total number of infections since March 11, 2020, to 19,234. These new infections were recorded after 102 tests were conducted.
These new cases recorded from: Region Three (eight cases), Region Four (36 cases), Region Five (three cases), Region Six (eight cases), Region Seven (two cases), Region Nine (28 cases) and Region 10 (five cases).
There are also 21 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 106 are in institutional isolation, 1,414 are in home isolation and seven persons in institutional quarantine.
Importantly, there have been 17,241 recoveries to date.
