Woman, 26, arrested for stabbing husband to death in Reg. 8
A 26-year-old woman is in police custody for the alleged murder of her 23-year-old reputed husband who was stabbed to death on Sunday last.
Dead is Junior Singh, known as ‘Bumble Bee’ or ‘Fine Man’, a pork-knocker of Kurubrong Backdam and also of Suriname. The murder occurred at around 12:30hrs at Blackwater Landing, Kurubrong Backdam Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
Police Headquarters in a report noted that Singh and his wife worked as a pork-knocker and a cook, respectively.
About five days ago, they decided that they were leaving the backdam for home but due to transportation difficulties, a room was given to them by a businesswoman to stay until transportation was sorted.
On the date and time mentioned, the wife was at a businesswoman’s shop assisting her to cook while Singh was at a shop on the said landing imbibing with friends.
The wife later joined them and spent 20 minutes before she returned to the businesswoman’s shop. Subsequently, Singh went to the shop and began to verbally abuse the suspect, after which they went to their room.
There, a physical altercation ensued, which resulted in the wife stabbing Singh to his left side chest with a knife. The police were summoned to the scene and the suspect was arrested and is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
