A 23-year-old man of Moruca, North West District, Region One, who left his home last Friday for Aranka backdam, Region Seven, has gone missing and his family fears he was eaten by a wild animal.

The man was identified as Roshan Vieira.  His cousin, Deon La Cruz, who spoke to the News Room on Wednesday via telephone, explained that Vieira went to the backdam in search of work in the company of seven other men.

La Cruz was told that when the men arrived at the work location, the conditions were unsuitable so they opted to leave.

On the journey out, the men reportedly heard the sound of a motorcycle and fearing the worse, they decided to hide in the bushes until it passed.

According to La Cruz, after an hour elapsed, the men came out of hiding however, Vieira could not be located.

“The three guys he was hiding with said he was scared and he was going back further and further in the bush, like he panic and he decide to go more in the bush,” La Cruz explained.

“They went back to the camp and they looked for him but nobody saw him. We ain’t know if tiger eat he or something but we afraid for him.”

La Cruz said a formal report has been made with the police and a search has since commenced for the missing man.

The family is asking anyone with information to please contact the nearest police station.
