Boy, 13, robbed of phone, $3000 at knifepoint in Zeelugt
A 13-year-old boy is now in a traumatised state after he was held at knifepoint on Wednesday night and robbed of his Samsung Galaxy J2 cellphone worth $42,000 and $3,000 in cash.
Police said the armed robbery occurred at around 20:30hrs while the child was walking through a street in Zeelugt New Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, heading to a shop.
It is alleged that two perpetrators approached him from behind on a black Jailing motorcycle; they pulled out a silver metal knife and placed it to the child’s neck and started to search him. They relieved him of the cellphone and cash and made good their escape on the said motorcycle. Investigations are ongoing.
