Guyanese Permaul records best international score at Paris Games

Despite the many constraints of competing on the international stage without a network of support, Archery Guyana’s Devin Persaud Permaul recorded his best score in an international competition to date.

“Unfortunately, in the elimination round, Permaul went up against a competitor from Thailand and it came close at 4 vs 4, with the Thailand Archer coming out victorious. Regrettably, this meant the end of a glorious run by Devin Persaud Permaul in his participation in the Olympic Qualification process,” Archery Guyana said.

Competing in Paris, Permaul shot an impressive 615, which placed him at 106, and just outside the bracket for elimination.

“It’s a punishing sport and can demoralize, but I will push through and continue to get better,” he said.

The focus is now on getting better, with the aim of targeting qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games.
