The body of the 49-year-old man who stabbed his girlfriend to death on Sunday was discovered Monday morning at the Conservancy in Canal No. One, West Bank Demerara.
The suspect, Onkar Singh, well known as ‘Suga’ or ‘Prem’, was on the run after beating and stabbing his girlfriend, 26-year-old Omela Singh of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
The woman later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Sunday.
Police had reported that the incident occurred at around 12:30hrs at the woman’s home.
Police said that the Singh visited the woman’s house and during his time there an argument ensued; it escalated and the man reportedly cuffed and stabbed her multiple times causing the knife to be stuck in her abdomen.
