Kareem Powley, 20, of Tucville North, East La Penitence Georgetown was on Sunday evening killed after the motorcycle he was travelling on crashed into a pile of stones on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.

The accident, according to the police report, occurred at around 22:30 hrs.

Powley was travelling on a motorcycle #CK 7783, driven by 21-year-old Joshua Mentore of Pattensen Sophia, Georgetown.

Police said that the motorcycle was proceeding north on the western side of Mandela Avenue at a fast rate of speed.

Mentore reportedly told police that a black motorcar, proceeding in the same direction to the right side of him, swerved left and caused him to lose control of the motorcycle.

The driver ran off the road and collided with a pile of stones causing him and Powley to fall onto the road surface, receiving injuries about their bodies.

Powley was unconscious and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMTs; the body was subsequently transferred to Lyken Funeral Home,

Police said that a notice of intended prosecution served was served on Mentore; a breathalyzer test was conducted on him and revealed no trace of alcohol in his system.

He remains in custody assisting with investigations.
