Zoon Online Shopping and Shipping will be sponsoring the equipment needs of National Table Tennis player Miguel Wong, who has qualified for the Junior Pan American Games, scheduled for November 25 to December 5 in Colombia.
Felicity Sonaram, a representative of the Middle Street business entity, indicated they wanted to play their part in helping a national athlete achieve his dreams, which is why they were motivated to support Wong.
“We are very proud to do so; you don’t see many places pushing the natural talent here in Guyana, so we want to be able to carry him somewhere, push him further and the best way we found to do this, is by sponsoring,” the Sales Associate expressed on Monday.
Wong thanked the company for its partnership and vowed to represent the entity to the best of his ability.
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) revealed the prospectus for the event and Wong was listed as a Caribbean representative for the Men’s Under-21 Singles.
Wong’s qualification came as a result of his World Ranking; he is currently ranked 706 with 168 rating points
In May, Guyana Olympic Association President, K.A Juman-Yassin, told the media they have requested a proposal from the Guyana Table Tennis Association on getting Wong into a high-performance programme ahead of the Games.
The Games is a forthcoming international multi-sport event for athletes aged 18 to 21 in the Americas, organised by Panam Sports.
