Drunken brawl: woman on the run after allegedly stabbing brother

A 27-year-old man of Vergenogen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) is hospitalised in a stable condition after he was reportedly stabbed with a broken Guinness bottle by his sister.

According to a police report, the incident occurred on Tuesday at 21:20 hrs.

The victim, Ricardo Mahadeo of Silk Cotton Dam Zeelugt, EBE, reportedly went to his aunt’s residence where he met his sister, her boyfriend and two other cousins. The group began imbibing and Mahadeo sent his sister to the shop with $1,000 to purchase “chaser.”

A few hours passed and when his sister returned, she did not have the beverage, resulting in an argument where her boyfriend intervened as the peacemaker.

Police said that the man’s sister then took a Guinness bottle and stabbed him to the left side of his head.

The woman, police said also took a piece of the broken bottle and stabbed him to his chest causing him to receive further injuries.

The police were summoned and the victim was rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital and later referred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

Checks were made for the suspect but she could not be found, however, police detained her boyfriend as investigations continue.
