Opposition Member of Parliament (MP) Annette Ferguson was on Wednesday arrested by ranks of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown in relation to an allegation under the Cyber Crime Act of Guyana.
According to a police release, the allegation was made by a senior member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF). The police said that Ferguson reportedly made a post on Facebook “which falsely stated” that the senior GDF rank will be in charge of a “killing squad”.
Police said that a file is being prepared to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Investigations are ongoing.
