The winning team in this weekend’s Ultimate Tapeball Showdown is expected to pocket $150,000 at the end of the two-day event (Sunday and Monday) at Durban Park.
Organiser of the event, Christopher Rajcoomar, said they are looking to attract at least 14 teams, some of which are expected to be the usual suspects V-Net Vipers, Village Rams, Airport and Team Corruption.
Rajcoomar further indicated that some new teams such as Upsetters, Red Bull and Pandemic XI have expressed an interest in participating.
The organiser said he wants all teams to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and he expects it to be very competitive, given the rivalry with teams in previous tournaments.
The runner-up team will pocket G$50,000 and the Man-of-the-Final will be rewarded with a trophy. The registration fee is G$12,000 and those seeking to register can contact Rajcoomar on 616-4555 or 669-0350.
The event has been given conditional approval by the National COVID-19 Task Force.
