3 women, one man die from COVID; 14 people in ICU

The Ministry of Health on Thursday reported that four other individuals have died from COVID-19, taking the country’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 473; 75 of those deaths were recorded during the month of June.

The latest fatalities are a 91-year-old woman from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) who died on June 30; a 71-year-old woman; a 34-year-old woman, and a 54-year-old man –all from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), who died on June 29.

Meanwhile, another 87 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus taking the total number of infections recorded since March 11, 2020, to 20,142.

These new cases were confirmed from 1,019 tests.

The new cases were recorded in Region One (five cases); Region Three (22 cases); Region Four (40 cases); Region Six (18 cases) and Region 10 (two cases).

Additionally, there are 14 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 1,460 are people in home isolation, three people are in institutional quarantine and 100 people are in institutional isolation.

The total number of people who have recovered to date is 18,109.
