    Another person has died from COVID-19, taking the country’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 478, the Ministry of Health reported on Saturday.

    The latest fatality is a 50-year-old female from Region 9 (Upper Takutu – Upper Essequibo) who died while receiving care at a medical facility on July 02, 2021.

    With the additional death, it would mean that two persons succumbed to COVID-19 for July 2021.

    Meanwhile, another 74 people have been infected with the disease, taking the total number of infections recorded since March 11, 2020, to 20,302. These new cases were confirmed from 1,285 tests.

    The new cases were recorded in Region One (six cases); Region Two (five cases); Region Three (nine cases); Region Four (30 cases); Region Five (three cases); Region Six (four cases); Region Seven (two cases), Region Eight (one case), Region Nine (four cases) and Region 10 (two cases).

    Additionally, there are 18 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 1,410 are people in home isolation, nine people are in institutional quarantine and 95 people are in institutional isolation. The total number of people who have recovered to date is 18,304.
