A collision between a minibus (BTT 8484) and a motorcar (PLL 2388) along the Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD) public road on Saturday night has left several persons injured.
A police statement noted that the minibus was driven by 48-year-old Corwin Abrams of Helena #1 Mahaica, ECD and while the car was being driven by Hemraj Persaud of Enmore, ECD.
According to reports, the car was proceeding south of the Better Hope access road and onto the Vryheid’s Lust Public Road when it ended up in the path of the minibus.
That resulted in a collision between both vehicles. The minibus further collided with the pole of a traffic light located on the northern grass parapet.
Several passengers, who were in the minibus, along with the driver, received injuries about their bodies and were assisted by public-spirited citizens to the Georgetown Public Hospital where they were treated and sent them away.
However, 20-year-old Xavier Jaramillo, of Helena, Mahaica, who was a passenger in the minibus, was admitted with a fractured left thigh.
The driver of the car, along with a 21-year-old occupant, were also taken to the hospital where they were treated by a doctor and sent away.
