The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), through its Essequibo Cricket Development Committee (ECDC), donated 50 scorebooks and 12 boxes of balls to the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) on Sunday.
Ryan Hercules, who chairs the Committee, indicated that this donation is just a small step in the bigger picture of support from the GCB and it came as a result of initial consultations with clubs in Essequibo.
Acting ECB President, Alvin Johnson, said they are happy for the assistance and they will be looking forward to more from the GCB, which makes an impact in offsetting some finances given the complexity of travelling in Essequibo.
Meanwhile, Johnson indicated that there are six top priorities of the ECB, the first of which is assistance from the GCB for rehabilitation works on the Board’s hostel in Anna Regina.
Also present at the handing over were ECB Secretary, Atto Christiani, and Sherman Austin, Marketing Manager of Pomeroon Cricket Committee.
Austin, who received part of the donation, said he is extremely grateful since it will help to save some costs, even if little, since fuel to travel via boats is a massive expense for the County board.
