    Another three people died after they were infected with COVID-19 taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 492 with 16 of those deaths recorded during this month so far.

    On Saturday, the Ministry of Health reported that the latest fatalities are:
    1 – A 60-year-old man from Region Six (East Berbice Corentyne), who died on July 8
    2 – A 67-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) who died on July 9
    3 – A 102-year-old woman, also from Region Four, who died on July 8 as well.

    The ministry said that the patients were admitted COVID-19 like symptoms but died while receiving care at a medical institution. Samples were reportedly taken at the time of admission and those subsequently returned positive tests.

    In addition to these three deaths, the ministry’s daily COVID-19 dashboard indicated that another 90 people became infected with the virus after 1,469 tests were conducted. This means that there have been 20,924 infections recorded since March, 2020.

    These cases were recorded in Region One (10 cases), Region Two (12 cases), Region Three (eight cases), Region Four (29 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (six cases), Region Nine (eight cases) and Region 10 (12 cases).

    Meanwhile, there are 12 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 85 people in institutional isolation, 1,337 are in home isolation and 15 in institutional quarantine.
