The new executive of the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) has earmarked Emancipation Day (August 1) for a Brunch/Lunch fundraiser, which is also being used as a membership drive at the club, located on Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
This activity is aimed at raising funds to improve the Club’s facilities, especially the all-weather practice nets, and getting more people to join the club, which was founded in 1902 and has produced several players who have represented Guyana and the West Indies at various levels.
An executive member indicated there will be prizes for the persons with the best African wear. Those desirous of becoming members of the club will benefit from reduced membership fees for a year and will be given club merchandise upon registration.
Tickets for the event are already on sale and can be bought at the Club; Jacobs Jewellery and Pawn Shop at 16 Pike Street, Kitty; Star Party Rentals at 21 Craig Street, Campbellville, and Exotic Prints at 43 Norton Street, Lodge.
Persons can all also contact the club on 225-6509 for tickets.
Lunch will include Cook-up with all meats or Veggie, Fried Fish, Conkie and Metemgee at a cost of G$1,500.
There is the take-away option, however those desirous of outdoor dining would have to do so under strict COVID-19 protocols.
