Wicketkeeper/batsman Vishwanauth Ramlakhan played a splendid knock at the weekend to lead Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club (ECCCC) to championship honours in the La Bonne Intention (LBI) Sports Club-organised eight-team T10 competition.
Playing the championship game at the LBI ground, East Coast Demerara, ECCCC defeated LBI ‘A’ team by 20 runs to lift the winner’s trophy.
The right-handed Ramlakhan stroked 44 (4x6s) and Chaitram Balgobin made 32 not out (3x6s) as ECCCC posted 99-2 from the allotted 10 overs.
In reply, LBI ‘A’ were kept to 79-1 when the overs ended with Steve making 31* and Nizam Khan 23. Ramlakhan was named Man-of-the-Match, while Balgobin was named Best Batsman and Richard Dowlatram Best Bowler.
In the semi-finals, LBI ‘A’ defeated LBI ‘B’ and ECCCC got the better of Lusignan by 22 runs.
ECCCC made 83-3 with Balgobin scoring 27* and Rudolph Singh 15*, as extras were 28. Lusignan responded with 61-7 with S. Jainarine taking 3-9 and Chris Surat 2-17.
